Keno Strategies That Win

It won’t often be thought of as the funnest game in the arena of gaming, but keno has massive amounts of dedicated supporters. As well it should! It’s a consistently entertaining lottery-style game that’s a snap to play, abundantly available in loads of different styles, and one that can pay out mega-dollars for gamblers who master its many subtle rules. But let’s start with the basic rules for now.

When explaining keno to newcomers, some betting masters compare it to lotto. This is at least partly apt, in that each game is generally numerical. But to take that comparison too far would be to detract from the innumerable unique traits that make keno so entertaining. Unlike bingo, keno users have the power to choose the numbers for each and every card.

Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the player is granted an increased degree of personal responsibility by being able to select as many (or as few) numbers as he feels they need. And it doesn’t take a nuclear physicist to figure out how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all your chosen numbers with a good old#2 pencil like you used back in the day.

Now that you’ve marked your numbers, take the game card back to the person at the keno booth. The nice person will record those numbers and then hand you a receipt. Make sure no to drop this (potentially) expensive bit of paper! Even if the clerk remembers you and wants help out, without a winning ticket with you, you will be given exactly $.00 for your actions.

OK, so there you have strategy #1: always take care to keep your keno ticket. Let us move to something a bit more advanced, ok?

Now that you’ve checked off your numbers, get into a nice keno booth and observe the action happen on a monitor. That is where the winning numbers show up in lights. If you selected winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Be sure not to dally, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You need to get up to the keno stand to collect your winnings, since a new round of keno will surely begin within five minutes.

Strategy number two: always make it back to the keno booth on time!

Since you can’t trust yourself to make that 5 minute deadline each time, you always have the option of using a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your desired numbers on anywhere from two to twenty tickets. When the maximum number of rounds (the same as the number of tickets) is played out, you will then be able to get off your numb back side and go collect your winnings.

Yet another alternative is recognized as a "stray and play" keno card, which generally lets you make number choices for 30 keno rounds or more. Heck, you can take vacation to Italy and not have to fret about getting back in time to collect your winnings. Most "stray and play" tickets are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!

So now you know a couple of required schemes for winning keno. If you are an advanced gambler, they may seem stupidly obvious. However, it will never hurt to bone up on the basics, and if you are a novice keno player, every tiny bit of advice will help make your keno experience more agreeable.
